Here's to Nagoya

April 2005 / Hemispheres

Here's to Nagoya. What do mouthwash and ancient war strategist Sun Tzu have in common? Both were included in bags given to first-class passengers on United's Japan-bound flights from the United States March 26–April 1. The bags celebrated Nagoya's new airport and the launch on March 26 of United's San Francisco–Nagoya flight. The bags included items such as Teas' Tea green tea, Elizabeth Grant skin-care products, a scent from Sebastian Signs, and St. Tropez tanning items. For fun, the bags included the book Sun Tzu Was a Sissy, a nutty spoof of the contemporary competitive workplace. The gift bags gave the receivers "a 'wow' experience," says Jane Ubell-Meyer, founder of gift-bag company Madison & Mulholland, which specializes in gift totes in celebrities.
